In a bold departure from traditional fashion campaigns, German luxury label MCM has partnered with Sony Music Entertainment’s FILTR music platform and Canadian pop singer Tate McRae to launch their Spring-Summer 2023 collection. The result is “A FILTR TAKE” — a creative visual series that combines McRae’s musical prowess with a display of MCM’s futuristic fashion designs in two aesthetically pleasing episodes.

MCM’s SS23 collection introduces a cyberpunk-inspired line of clothing that re-imagines our natural world with a futuristic feel. From this new drop comes three style capsules: Meta Safari, Cyberpunk and Meta Ocean. The release of this collection accompanied by musical elements further punctuates the fashion brand’s cultural zeitgeist and association with music and technology. Founded in 1976, MCM was, in fact, a product of the revolutionary rock & roll and discotheque eras. A fitting creative partner for this disruptive fashion house, 3x Platinum artist McRae is the Canadian musician is reshaping what it means to work in the music business with every TikTok trending lyric.

“I’ve been a performer all my life – I was always dancing, singing, writing songs. What I do is about expressing myself, being my true self and clothes have a big impact on the way I feel and present this. As a singer-songwriter, performing in front of crowds of thousands of people, and stepping into the public eye at a young age, the power of clothes has always been something I’m very aware of,” the “You Broke Me First” singer shares with ELLE Canada.

Episode one of “A FILTR TAKE” is now live and features McRae wearing key looks from the SS23 collection while delivering a full-length performance of her smash hit “she’s all i wanna be”.

“My collaboration with MCM is all about the kinds of pieces I love: bigger silhouettes and edgy styles with a feminine touch. I like to have something unexpected within my outfit too – whether it’s a crazy loud bag or an interesting texture, like leather or PVC,” she shares. “I have always gravitated towards MCM’s unique take on luxury, their designs feel fresh and somehow timeless, and always with something bright and bold in the mix. This collection is authentically me and I’m so happy to be a part of it.”

In episode two, releasing on February 16th, she’ll be performing her latest single “uh oh”.
