2014 has been a year of firsts for Louis Vuitton. Following Nicolas Ghesquière’s well-received runway debut back in March, the luxury brand will host its first-ever resort collection outside of Paris. The destination? Monaco, naturally. The May 17 spectacle will take place by the Palais de Monaco, with Princess Charlene in attendance. The front row is also expected to be stacked with Hollywood royalty, courtesy of the nearby Cannes film festival. Monaco is a fitting setting for Louis Vuitton—the brand has long been associated with luxe travel. The pomp and pageantry surrounding the event is also indicative of the growing importance of resort collections. This won’t be the first (or last) time a design house heads to an exotic locale, mark your fashion calendars accordingly. And for those of us who can’t make the trip? The show will be live-streamed on
louisvuitton.com.
