Jil Sander (Finally) Names New Creative Director
It’s been nearly
six months since Jil Sander announced her departure from her eponymous label – but good news, lovers of minimalist chic: the label has appointed a new creative director! (After maybe waiting a while to see if Sander’s resignation would actually stick? It was, after all, the third time she’s done that).
The new creative director for the Milan-based design house is Rodolfo Paglialunga, whose most recent gig was at Vionnet, where he was creative director from 2009 to 2011. At Vionnet, his collections were all about vintage, opulent glam, so it will be intriguing to see what emerges at Jil Sander, given the label’s famously pared-back aesthetic. (Fewer sequins, I’m predicting). Paglialunga’s first collection for Jil Sander will be Spring 2015.
