Kimberly Newport-Mimran was in a Mediterranean mood for Spring 2016. Her signature fit-and-flare silhouette has been replaced with boxy, relaxed shapes that telegraph a stylishly laidback attitude. “I think this kind of look is sexy and it’s cool,” she said backstage at her World MasterCard Fashion Week show held on Wednesday. “These looks can transport you to Bloor Street or Madison Avenue but you can also take it to the beach and feel just as fabulous.” Her muse is a cool girl from the south of France who “is a little disheveled,” explains Newport-Mimran. “She feels good in her own skin. She wears clothes, clothes don’t wear her.”

 

 

Mackage

Elisa Dahan and Eran Elfassy’s introduced a new element to Mackage’s signature monochromatic mood for spring 2016: bold pops of colour. While the collection as a whole is designed for the urban warrior – a cool girl who likes perforated leather detailing, rock ’n’ roll fringe and slick leather jumpsuits – the addition of a brilliant fire-engine red and a tropical turquoise infused an edgy playfulness into the duo’s spring story.
