The Raptors weren’t the only big winners in Toronto last night. The industry’s top designers, artists and leaders gathered for the ultimate celebration of fashion in Canada at the sixth annual Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards, held at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel.
Among the honorees? Fashion and art curator Thierry-Maxime Loriot, photographer Douglas Kirkland and Brother Vellies designer Aurora James were all acknowledged for their contributions to Canadian fashion, while Toronto-based designer Sid Neigum took home the $20,000 Suzanne Rogers Designer Grant for International Development (he also won Womenswear Designer of the Year). Throughout the evening—which was hosted by Jessi Cruickshank and included a special performance by Montreal-based singer-songwriter Charlotte Cardin—more top Canadian talent were recognized for their work, including Fresh Face of the Year Award winner model Krow Kian and Image Maker of the Year Award winner, photographer (and frequent ELLE Canada contributor) Max Abadian.
