After spending a low-key holiday in Canada, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were back in London for their first royal engagement of the year. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stopped by the Canada House, where the High Commissioner for Canada in the United Kingdom resides, to thank the office for the hospitality they received abroad.

For the visit, the Duchess opted for chic tonal ensemble in shades of brown including a long camel-coloured coat, a turtleneck sweater and slip skirt from Massimo Dutti and velvet Jimmy Choo pumps. She also wore a rose gold Kismet by Milka dangle bracelet.

According to Elaine Jyll Regio, ELLE Canada fashion and market editor, the matchy-matchy palette is tried-and-true way to put an outfit together. “Tonal dressing is a refreshing statement in the world of logos and exaggerated colourful prints,” she says. “It’s impactful because you always look put together and you have the ability to experiment with contrasting textures without the fear of looking too messy.”
