Canadian designers on their Fall 2013 fashion dare
Many Canadian designers mentioned colour and fur as their Fall 2013 fashion dare. We humbly suggest the Fendi fur fauxhawk as fair compromise. Photo courtesy of ImaxTree.com. Sometimes those drastic personal changes require a helpful nudge from those around us to execute – like
finally getting that short haircut or deciding whether that
quilted leather bag is worth the investment (always yes, friends). But once you finally take the plunge, you never really look back, do you? So we want to know your ultimate style challenges, and then take you up on them. We’re starting with some of our favourite Canadian designers and what their top fashion dares are this season. Consider the gauntlet thrown.
"I think every season, I think about colour, but this time I really mean it!"
-Matthew Gallagher, designer, Maison Matthew Gallagher "An oversized coat and boxy jumpers. Fur is also in trend this season. I will be in my Ashtiani oversized mohair cape, a pair of stirrup wool leggings and my limited edition fur clutch paired with my favorite YSL black and white pumps. I will probably add my Persian lamb cap to the list."
Canadian designers on their favourite STYLE ICON "This fall I’m going to incorporate more colour into my outfits. It’s too easy to keep reaching for the blacks and greys."
-Christopher Bates "My new MIZ line got inspired by the sophistication of the ’50s, which is a hot trend for this fall…I might give that one a go!"
-Izzy Camilleri, designer, MIZ "The Cape. It’s one you’ll see a lot. I put a great cape on the runway for Fall/Winter 2013 with a leather lapel. I’ll definitely be wearing that this season."
