Inspired by freedom, spontaneity, and creativity, the Lacoste x Ricky Regal luxury sportswear collection–launching March 5– combines two strong energies: Bruno Mars’ serious swagger and Lacoste’s iconic blend of heritage (read The Crocodile) and sophistication.
Casual and dressy, the capsule collection translates Mars’ fashion flair into a range of ready-to-wear clothing, footwear, and accessories. The line is centred on fluid shirts and pop tracksuits, while also featuring shorts, polo shirts, T-shirts, pants, slides, and socks, as well as a must-have pair of aviator shades.
“Lacoste was the first and only brand that said: ‘Bruno we want you to make this truly yours.’ The respect of such creative freedom coming from a heritage fashion house was an honour,” says Mars.
Lacoste Creative Director Louise Trotter gave the artist free rein, allowing Mars to push the boundaries of his imagination and bring Ricky Regal to life. This alter ego embodies Mars’ passion for flamboyant rhythm and his love for The Crocodile. “When I’m on stage, my name is Bruno Mars. When I’m making lavish luxurious garments, I go by Ricky Regal,” he says.
The Lacoste x Ricky Regal collection merges Mars’ vibrant state of mind with Lacoste’s sportswear expertise and delivers a seductive palette of strong colours including mustard yellow, petrol blue, eggplant purple, coral red, and tie-dye. With pieces to wear on their own or as a complete look, the collection features fabrics such as velvet, silk, and cotton, with impeccable finishes.
For Louise Trotter,“collaborating with [Mars] and entering into his unique world has been a great adventure, [as] he has a very clear vision and is obsessive with every detail.” And apparently, there wasn’t a single aspect of the creative process in which he wasn’t fully involved in.
The Lacoste x Ricky Regal collection launches on March 5, 2021 through a network of 18 exclusive retailers and will be available from March 8th, 2021 at selected Lacoste boutiques and on lacoste.com.
