Calvin Klein did what Calvin Klein does best today at New York Fashion Week. The brand’s creative director for women, Francisco Costa, showed the fall 2014 collection at Spring Studios in Tribeca to a crowd that also had big names like
Lupita Nyong’o (surprisingly making her first
NYFW appearance) and long-time Calvin Klein fan Naomi Watts. A collection filled with classic Klein – minimalist, a mix of downtown meets uptown – luxury but nothing over-the-top making everything wearable – especially the round of cozy knits that came across the runway. “The basis of my fall collection surrounded knitwear, which translated into a warm, textural coziness,” Costa says. “It had an overall sense of ease, but with an urban element woven throughout.” Turtle necks that cozied up to the mouth, mohair ivory
coats, sweater coats and sweater dresses all made the cut in cream, white, black and grey with touches of green and orange. Beauty-wise it was fresh, young and clean – a dab of rose on the cheeks and a soft shadow on the eye, plus effortless hair sums up the Calvin Klein beauty look. On a snowy, blizzard-like day like today in New York, everything looked ready to be worn right now, because in one word, this collection looked comfy. Here are some of the best pieces from Calvin Klein’s fall 2014 collection.
