The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant (1972), Prada Fall 2014 was another success, incorporating colour blocking, vibrantly dyed shearling, mannish coats and a surprising sportif twist all grounded in German Expressionism. The presentation, meanwhile, incorporated a chain link fence surrounding the perimeter and a live orchestra, complete with a soloist—Barbara Sukowa who played Lola in
Petra—belting out Kurt Weill. Can you picture it? If not, don’t worry—it might all sound a little opaque, but the reaction sparked by the clothes is purely visceral.
