roses-lancome

A photo from the exhibit. Photo by Ava Baccari.

Toronto just got a lot rosier with
Lancôme’s “Rôses by…" exhibit, which received its North American premiere during Luminato Festival last week. The rose-coloured exhibit was housed in the main lobby of First Canadian Place and featured 20 depictions of Lancôme’s delicate emblem, as imagined by internationally renowned photographers from Patrick Demarchelier to Peter Lindbergh. Descriptions written by the photog of what fueled their inspiration sat beside each portrait. My personal favourite was the apt summary quoting Gertrude Stein –  "A rose is a rose is a rose" – accompanying American photographer Carter Smith’s incarnation.
