ELLE Canada, July 2012.

Let’s talk awards shows, friends: Last night the National Magazine Awards were held at the Carlu in Toronto, where ELLE Canada
won a gold and silver medal. If you haven’t yet, take a look at JJ Lee’s
ELLE First piece about the first time he told a girl she was beautiful, which was awarded gold in the Best Short Feature category (if this story doesn’t make you cry then you’re probably a robot). Jessica Grant won silver in the Humour category for her
ELLE First story on how she survived her first hurricane (Hint: it involves drugs and daddy-long-legs.) In other award show news, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen won the coveted award for Best Womenswear Fashion Designers of the Year at the CFDA’s. That’s not nearly as interesting as host Seth Meyers, who kept the crowd entertained by replicating Marc Jacob’s Comme des Garcons dress from the Met Ball, and throwing out zingers like: “This fall on NBC, tune into Karl Lagerfeld’s
Are you Fatter than a Fifth Grader?” Hi-yooooo! [
The Cut] Speaking of Karl, he opened up to WWD about relationship with his cat Choupette. “She is a famous beauty,” he says. “Baptiste [Giabiconi] gave her to me for Christmas to watch for two weeks when he was away, but then I refused to give her back. I thought she was too cute. She is like a kept woman. She has a strong personality. She has lunch and dinner with me on the table, with her own food. She doesn’t touch my food. She doesn’t want to eat on the floor. She sleeps under a pillow and she even knows how to use an iPad. She has two personal maids, for both night and day. She is beyond spoiled." [
