By Corissa Bagan So far I have spent my new year bundled up in this fantastic faux-fur vest by
Canadian designer Jason Matlo, which I brought back from my
holiday in Vancouver where I visited with the designer. I had given up on my hunt for the perfect fur vest – I loved the idea, but couldn’t find one that was well made and flattering enough to invest in. I always just felt like I was wearing a shag rug. The hunt is over: This one kills the rest. Matlo’s clothes are known to make a woman’s body look its best. Even with a fabric as inherently un-slimming as fur, he’s left his mark. The drop shoulder and the length of the feathery strands give body to the shoulder, optically slimming the waist from the front. The shawl collar gives volume to the chest, causing the same magic to happen from the side. The collar also looks really damn good turned out from under a coat. Inseam pockets and a full lining make this the best fur vest ever.
How to wear: Throw it on over a
leather jacket and allow yourself to be oohed, ahhed and petted throughout your cozy and glamorous day to come. This vest, also available as a coat, and more looks from the Jason Matlo collection can be purchased at
jasonmatlo.com.
