In early 2013,
Canadian fashion designer Laura Siegel headed to India—one of the many trips she takes each year to source artisans and fabrics for each collection of her eponymous label—with a film crew to document how clothes are made. This was just months before the deadly collapse of the Rana Plaza garment factory in Bangladesh—and arguably, the same amount of time before retailers and consumers alike really started to take notice of how and where their clothing is made.
