We’re excited to unveil the Spring 2023 issue of ELLE Decoration Canada.

With the balmy months back on the calendar, we take the opportunity to chat with the founders of American design platform Sight Unseen, Jill Singer and Monica Khemsurov. They tell us all about their new book, How to Live With Objects, which delves into stylized pieces that bring some warmth of their own to our day-to-day.

To celebrate the beauty of imperfection, we sit down with Christy Caza—the brains behind Vancouver-based Fable—to explore her expertise in creating a zero-waste home-goods brand that will turn every one of her mugs into your favourite.

Our editors go all out when it comes to style by giving glowing reviews to warm amber hues, keeping things vivid with California designer Jonathan Rachman’s case for colour and flipping to the dark side with the Montreal duo behind design firm Blanc Marine, Mélanie Cherrier and Laurence Pons Lavigne, who advise us to reconsider sombre shades. We also get the wall-to-wall insider’s guide to wallpaper courtesy of three Toronto experts who are bringing the art form back.

On the home front, we step into the Ibiza abode of the French ready-to-wear designer of ba&sh, Barbara Boccara, to check out her light-splashed rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows, plenty of open spaces, pops of outlandish colour and personal touches that invite visitors to kick back and enjoy the greenery-filled view. Back in Canada, we take a peek behind the doors of Arthur Erickson’s 35-year-old architectural wonder, Eppich House II, in West Vancouver, and see futuristic curvy details that would make a Jetsons lover swoon. Then we head to Toronto’s Moore Park Ravine area to gawk at Angela Tsementzis’ modern rectangular design, filled with throwback pieces, before swinging by artist Simone Bodmer-Turner’s spot in Brooklyn for a tour of her international-curio-filled garden-level home.

To provide some environmentally friendly inspiration, Italian architect Mario Cucinella presents Tecla—the first 3D-printed house that’s made of raw clay and nearly carbon-neutral—located in the Italian commune town of Massa Lombarda.

And to help ignite your passion for outdoor adventures, we take a look at some of the most exceptional getaways, from seashores to savannahs, mountains and volcanoes—not forgetting jungles and verdant hills in between them.

The Spring 2023 issue of ELLE Decoration Canada will hit newsstands and Apple News+ on April 10, 2023.
