Look at this stuff, isn’t it neat – and
Sofia Coppola’s collection of directorial whoseits and whatsits just would not be complete without adding a re-make of
The Little Mermaid to her resume. The
Bling Ring director has reportedly signed on to bring a new version of the classic fairy tale to the big screen – although it’s reportedly alot more faithful to the grim, gruesome Hans Anderson horror-show original (so probably not a lot of singing lobsters?)
As superfans of the Disney original, we’d like to humbly offer our non-animated casting suggestions for the role of Ariel…
1. Isla Fisher Red hair? Check. Bubbly-yet-strangely-not annoying-roles under her belt? Check. Last name that’s vaguely nautical? Check.
2. Emma Watson Early reports are that the always impeccable Emma is Coppola’s first choice for the role – and we totally endorse it. She looks like a fairy princess, and she’s got some serious magical situation acting chops (that little franchise about a boy wizard, anyone?).
3. Jared Leto Why waste budget on hair stylists, when this choice comes with
the ultimate mermaid-esque locks naturally?
