We’re thrilled to unveil the April issue of ELLE Canada, featuring superstar Zendaya front-and-centre. We talk to the Hollywood sensation and rising style icon about everything from her Lancôme brand ambassadorship to professional makeup tips and the social issues near and dear to her heart. “I firmly believe that everyone is entitled to an education. Knowledge is power and a gift no one can take back. Once you have it, it’s yours,” says the actress. She also touches on some of the enduring motivations for playing her award-winning character Rue, who hits a nerve with many viewers: “My greatest wish for Euphoria was that it would help heal people, and I just want to say thank you to everyone who has shared their story with me.”

We spoke to plenty of fascinating, creative women from across many fields too, starting with the hit TV show Ginny & Georgia’s resident Canadian funny girl, Sara Waisglass. We reveal the details of courtroom sketch artist Alexandra Newbould’s unique craft, check in with Montreal-born artist Allison Katz who is making her mark on the international scene, and we dish with food writer Illyanna Maisonet about her long-time-coming cookbook titled Diasporican: A Puerto Rican Cookbook.

Our editors didn’t skimp on style either, with spotlights on ballet-influenced fashion taking centre stage, designers incorporating Spanish inspirations, pearl jewellery trends, and brands putting used clothes back into the loop. We talk to Montreal’s Mahrzad Lari who designs plus size clothing for men, then go down the catwalk with Cécile Feilchenfeldt’s show-stopping knits and check out how leather is going faux from head to toe, before taking an in-depth look at the spring/summer styles to watch, with fantasy-inspired florals and futuristic cuts included. We also peruse Bottega Veneta’s new leather-clad line and go on a joy ride with denim’s new playful attitude.

On the beauty front, our team embraces spring’s reinvented smoky eye and serve up a full trend report for what looks are on the horizon—from amped-up glitter to gloss’ big return—and give us the low-down on how biomimicry is set to take over the beauty game. Then, we dive into the past, present and all things makeup with the new director of Hermès Beauty.

With the idea of living our best lives in mind, we explore how to mend a broken heart in the Swiss Alps, take tips for disconnecting from our devices, discover Copenhagen’s Scandi-chic style and find a spot of paradise in Mexico’s Riviera Nayarit.

The April issue of ELLE Canada will hit stands and Apple News+ on March 13, 2023.
