It can be overwhelming to navigate this world of products, media and content—should you buy that moisturizer? What TikTok shouldn’t you scroll past? Is that TV show really worth the hype? To help ELLE Canada readers stay in the know, every month, we’re going to be sharing what we’ve been loving throughout the month—from beauty to clothing to movies. Think of it as the crème de la crème of recommendations.
2022 Taycan GTS, Porsche
Porsche has just announced the release of The Taycan GTS (Gran Turismo Sport), the sporty all-rounder of the model range–and it is slick. Porsche’s new electric sedan has two electric motors (one at the front, the other at the rear) that produce a combined peak of 590 horsepower, with a maximum speed of 250 km/h–can you feel the thrill? And, to top it all off, the car’s design features are quite distinctive: there are several black or dark details on the exterior, such as the front apron, the bases of the exterior mirrors and the side window trims – as is traditional on a GTS. So to that, we say: “Santa baby…”
The Organic Cotton Quilted Mockneck Sweatshirt, Everlane
If your sweater collection already consists of too many knit, wool or sherpa pieces might we suggest this quilted mockneck sweatshirt from Everlane? It’s a comfy oversized fit and is the perfect layering piece for the fall and incoming winter season. It also comes in a set of chic colours including this cream shade and a light purple.

Silk Pillowcase, Slip
If you struggle with acne-prone skin, dry hair or want to keep your fancy blowout intact, using a silk pillowcase is a great way to absorb less moisture and keep everything feeling and looking fresh—silk causes less friction on your skin and hair. This silk pillowcase from Slip is made of high-quality silk and feels like a dream.

Cheekbone Beauty x Sephora: Right The Story Campaign
A new campaign between beauty brand Cheekbone Beauty and creative agency Sid Lee is working to empower Indigneous experiences. Filmed in the Yukon by a 95% Indigenous crew and directed by Mohawk visual storyteller Shaunoh, Right the Story aims to authentically represent a modern view of Indigenous life today and highlights Indigenous changemakers including Autumn Peltier, an Anishinaabe Indigenous clean water advocate and Quannah Chasinghorse, an internationally renowned Indigenous model and climate activist. To commemorate Right the Story, Cheekbone Beauty launched limited edition packaging for the lipstick shade Aki Red, available in-stores at Sephora locations nationwide. A portion of each sale is donated to organizations supporting Indigenous youth education.
Smash + Tess Pop in Vancouver
Just in time for the holidays, Smash + Tess, a comfort-meets-style apparel brand is opening its first brick-and-mortar space at Vancouver’s Coquitlam Centre. Starting November 19, you’ll find the brand’s popular rompers, new comfy styles designed for the holidays along with other stylish loungewear—available for the whole family! Smash+Tess has made the space their own with cheeky signage, a chic lounge area and plenty of Instagram-worthy vignettes throughout. As an e-commerce business, it’s an exciting feat to have an in-person shop for buyers.
Red (Taylor’s Version)
In June, Taylor Swift announced she was releasing her 2012 album, Red, in her album re-recording series. Red signified a shift in the singer’s music, blending country and pop, while still diving into Swift’s specific complexities around love and heartbreak. Released last week, Red (Taylor’s Version) is a two-hour long album that feels incredibly nostalgic. It features nine unreleased “vault” tracks, including a 10-minute version of the fan favourite hit, “All Too Well.” (It’s also accompanied by All Too Well: The Short Film, starring Dylan O’Brien and Sadie Sink.) Red (Taylor’s Version) is a must-listen for new and old fans of Swift.
Dune
One of the biggest movies of the year, Dune, is finally out. If you’re not in the loop, the sci-fi movie is based on the book of the same name by Frank Herbert, about a fictional futuristic world where Paul Atreides (played by Timothée Chalamet) has to travel to the most dangerous planet in order for herd safety—but conflict quickly ensues amongst other communities. Chalamet is joined by a star-studded cast of co-stars including Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson and Jason Momoa. While the film clocks in at over two hours, it’s totally worth a watch.
The Gucci and Balenciaga “The Hacker Project” at SSENSE Montreal
Balenciaga and Gucci have just dropped part two of The Hacker Project series, with SSENSE Montreal as the only wholesale partner in all of Quebec. This second iteration–the Balenciaga series–introduces cross-branded merchandise that combines Gucci’s codes (logos, patterns, colorways and iconic handbags) with Balenciaga’s cocoon-shaped puffers, baseball caps, socks, scarves and small luggage items. And to celebrate the launch of the unlike-anything-you’ve-ever-seen collab, SSENSE Montreal’s first floor, lobby and windows have been spatially hacked by Balenciaga (hello, Balenciaga velvet curtains, etched in the classic all-over Gucci print). The difference between The Hacker Project and more typical fashion collabs is that each designer was given “carte blanche” to use the other fashion house’s signifiers, at a time when both brands are having a major moment. The Hacker Project installation is on view at SSENSE Montreal until December 12, 2021.
