The project ‘Selfiecity’, run by a team of digital experts, is a deep analysis about the quintessentially 21st century way to take a photograph. They studied one week’s worth of Instagram shots from the end of 2013, and found some surprising things – the most interesting being that we actually don’t take that many (just 4 percent of all images they studied).

Other findings: women take nearly 2x more selfies than men, people in Thailand smile the most in their solo shots, and the average selfie-taker is 23.7 years old (Kim K is clearly an outlier then).
