Lou Reed, a trailblazer for the indie rock movement and arguably the most influential rock ‘n roll songwriters of this time, has died at the age of 71. With his band the Velvet Underground, he paved the way for some of the biggest names in alternative rock, including Iggy Pop and Patti Smith. Reed fused art, music and style, collaborating with Andy Warhol on his album cover
The Velvet Underground & Nico and made his mark in the world of
punk fashion, often donning his
leather jacket, ubiquitous cigarette in mouth. There is no denying the profound impact that Reed made on the music and fashion industries, showing us all how to "Walk on the Wild Side". He will be missed.
