Prince George: Bored on day 1 of royal tour Down Under
Will, Kate and George have touched down in New Zealand – and while Mama and Papa Cambridge were all big smiles and enthusiastic small talk, the royal baby was clearly so.over.it.
You may be reading confusion, incomprehension or a tiny little bit of fear in the 8 month-old’s features as he deplanes in Wellington, New Zealand’s capital – but to an expert such as myself (ha), Prince George is displaying all the signs of someone who just does not want to be there. Allow me to decode a picture or two:
The blank stare, the defeated posture – you can almost hear the conversation he and Kate had just prior to getting off the plane. ‘Fine, George, you don’t have to smile – but you do have to wear these shorts to show off your adorable dimpled knees. You owe the crowd that much, at least." Whatever, Mom.
All the grown-ups are super into something up ahead (oh look, the New Zealand prime minister!), but George’s body language is screaming the international signal for: "I am so ready to bounce". Note the silent communication between George and the guy doing the smirk behind – shortly after this, George went off with the nanny, and left Will and Kate to do more official things, like rub noses (you had to be there). Coincidence?
