The Strokes have finished their latest album.
The ‘Last Night’ hitmakers completed recording the songs which will make up their fourth, as yet untitled album, yesterday (16.11.10), according to singer Julian Casablancas.
In reply to a question on twitter, he wrote: “Still not going to be out for a few months – mixing, etc, but JUST finally finished it yesterday actually!? (sic)”
The New York band’s follow up 2006’s record ‘First Impressions Of Earth’ was originally scheduled for the end of this year, but a number of delays in recording sessions have pushed it back to March 2011.
The band have previously admitted there had been a “disagreement” as to whether songs for the album – which they started writing tracks for in 2009 – were ready, and at one point Julian took himself out of the recording process to let his bandmates come up with ideas.
He said: “I’m pretty opinionated. Nothing pushy to the point of it’s my way or no way, but I’ll hear a song and be like, ‘Hmmm, it feels like the bass should be like something different’. Whereas if I feel like I wasn’t in the room then they could just kind of spread their wings.”
The as-yet-untitled album was recorded with Joe Chicarelli , who has also worked with U2 and Beck, who has said the group constantly experimented during their time in the studio.
