London’s The O2 venue is showcasing over 100 bands at 20 free concerts in December.

A special stage has been constructed at the London Piazza at The O2, which will showcase acts from December 3 to 22 in what has been dubbed the December Sessions.

The shows will include sets from former Hoosiers frontman Irwin Sparkes’ new band, The Sea and I, and Belakiss, who’s bassist is The Beatles drummer Ringo Starr’s granddaughter, Tatia.

Tree Top Flyers – who recently won the Glastonbury Emerging Talent competition – will play, as will Son of Jack, who recently toured with The Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde. Further acts have yet to be announced.

Head of marketing and communications at The O2, Suzi Kent, said: “We see some of the world’s biggest recording artists performing at The O2 in our world-famous arena.

“So it was incredibly important for us to create something that supports a new generation of bands on the up.

“December Sessions is all about celebrating new music and giving music fans a chance to see these bands, for free, in an environment that they wouldn’t normally play at this stage of their careers.”
