Rizzle Kicks realised they wanted to work with Olly Murs when they saw him score a penalty in a football match.
The ‘Down with the Trumpets’ hitmakers – who are made up of Harley Alexander-Suleeach and Jordan Stephens – always respected the singer, but they knew he was the right man to record a song with when they saw him convert a penalty in a charity football match.
Harley exclusively told BANG Showbiz: ”We always liked Olly on ‘X Factor’ but we really knew he was the kind of person we wanted to work with when we were watching a celebrity football match and we saw him score a penalty. We thought he was great at football, and we’re big football fans.
”So when we were asked if we wanted to work with him we were like, ‘Yeah, he’s the man.’ ”
The duo – who narrowly missed out on the British Single prize at the BRIT Awards on Tuesday night (21.02.12) for their ‘Heart Skips A Beat’ collaboration with Olly – believe the ‘Dance With Me Tonight’ singer, who they performed with at the spectacle, has been the best contestant to ever come out of ‘The X Factor’ following his runner-up spot on the show in 2009.
Harley added: ”It was amazing working with him, he’s an absolute don. He’s been the best act to have ever come out of ‘X Factor’ in my opinion. It was an honour to do a track with him.
”The single is quality, but it was more Olly’s song than ours. It was great to be nominated for a BRIT Award though.”
