Rap rebels LMFAO
LMFAO see themselves as the ''rebels'' of the Motown family.
LMFAO are the “rebels” of the Motown family.
The group – made up of Redfoo and SkyBlu, son and grandson of legendary soul record label Motown founder Berry Gordy – say their rap roots set them apart from most of their immediate family and the wider family of the people signed to the label.
SkyBlu said: “We were like the rappers, the rebels in our family. We’d rap at our family Christmas parties. It was cool, everyone secretly loved it.”
Redfu added to website Digital Spy: “I think he must have inspired us – music is very heavily in our family. We’d have parties where Smokey Robinson would randomly turn up and sing. Ironically we don’t sing that much, but we love to sing when given the chance.”
The duo have worked hard on their music however, with their recent UK Number one single ‘Party Rock Anthem’, taking them a year to write.
Redfu said: “We made a decision for that to be the first single from the album for the very reason that we thought it could be a number one song.
“We were excited about it when we first finished it, especially as it took over year to make.”
