Nicola Roberts feels “extra pressure” about her solo material.

The Girls Aloud star – whose debut single ‘Beat of My Drum’ is released this month followed by her album ‘Cinderella Eyes’ in the autumn – is excited about branching out on her own but worries about looking “stupid” in her videos without bandmates Cheryl Cole, Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding and Kimberley Walsh.

She told MTV’s ‘On Set With Nicola Roberts’: “There does feel like there’s a little bit of extra pressure, coz it is just me and it feels a little bit like; ‘Is that enough? Is it enough just to look at that?’

“Even though you might be ‘oh my god!’ inside, you’ve just got to go for it, otherwise it’s just going to look stupid. You have to be like, ‘I can deal with this.’

“When you go onto set cold…you’re nervous and there’s so many people watching…you know you are a bit frozen, takes a little while to get used to everyone being around and to just get into the groove of the music and enjoy it rather than worry about what everyone else is thinking.”

Nicola is the third member of Girls Aloud to release solo material.

Cheryl has created two albums, on which she worked with Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am, while Nadine’s debut effort ‘Insatiable’ failed to set charts alight.

‘On Set With Nicola Roberts’ will air on MTV Music in the UK at 2pm on Saturday (11.06.11).
