My Chemical Romance has received five nominations for the 2011 Kerrang! Awards fuelled by Relentless Energy Drink.

The ‘Bulletproof Heart’ hitmakers lead the way for this year’s honours, finding themselves in the running for Best Album for ‘Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys’, Best International Band, Best Live, Best Single for ‘Planetary (Go)’ and Best Video for their hit ‘Na Na Na’.

The group – fronted by Gerard Way – are thrilled by their multiple nominations.

They said in a statement: “The UK has always been one of our favorite places to play as band, and we are so grateful for these nominations and the continued support from Kerrang!, it’s readers and our fans. Thank you for the recognition and we hope to see you this summer.”

However, the rockers face tough competition from their American contemporaries 30 Seconds to Mars – who are nominated in all the same categories except Best Live – and Avenged Sevenfold who are also up for Best Album, Best Live and Best International Band.

British bands Bullet for My Valentine and Bring Me the Horizon have received three nominations each and both are up for Best British Band along with You Me at Six, The Blackout And Enter Shikari.

Kerrang!’s Deputy Editor Daniel J. Lane said: “The competition is really hotting up! It’s been an amazing year for our music and it’s really exciting to see such a diverse range of bands nominated for this year’s K! Awards.

“I personally love the fact that our very own home-grown heroes Bullet for My Valentine, Bring Me the Horizon and The Blackout are going head-to-head with US heavyweights like My Chemical Romance, 30 Seconds to Mars and Avenged Sevenfold.”

As was previously announced rock legend Ozzy Osbourne will take home the Kerrang! Legend award at the ceremony, which marks the 30th anniversary of the magazine.

The 2011 Kerrang! Awards fuelled by Relentless Energy Drink will take place in London on June 9.
