Lady Gaga leads the nominations for the 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) with six nods.

The ‘Edge Of Glory’ hitmaker – who bagged five awards at last year’s event – is up for Best Female, Best Live Act, Best Pop Act, as well as the Biggest Fans accolade for her dedicated troupe of “little monsters” and both Best Song and Best Video for ‘Born This Way’.

Closely following the 25-year-old singer in the nominations are Katy Perry – who will battle it out against Lady Gaga in the Best Female, Best Pop, Best Female and Best Song categories for ‘Firework’ – and Bruno Mars with four nods apiece.

Meanwhile, British hitmaker Adele – the top-selling artist of the year to date – teen singing sensation Justin Bieber and rockers Thirty Seconds To Mars are up for three awards each.

New to this year’s event the Biggest Fans category – in which Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Paramore and Thirty Seconds To Mars will battle it out – will allow MTV viewers to vote for their favourite artists from today (19.09.11).

The 2011 MTV EMAs will be held at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Ireland, on November 6 and will air live on MTV from 9pm.
