Lady Gaga is always “whipping” her producers “to make the new future of music”.

The ‘Born This Way’ hitmaker said people often underestimate how much input she has into her records, and credits her success with amount of effort she puts into each of her tracks.

She said in a Google Moderator interview: “I just really am, genuinely, a musician to my core, and a lot of people don’t know that about me.

“I write every lyric, every melody, I’m in there with the producers, whipping them to make the new future of music.”

Gaga added despite being the most downloaded artist in history and her ‘The Monster Ball Tour’ selling out stadiums across the world she is still waiting to feel like a star.

She added: “I guess even though my first album was called ‘The Fame’, that was never the ultimate goal of any of this.

“There was never a day when I woke up and said ‘I’m a superstar.’ I’m still waiting for that to happen.”

Gaga’s latest album ‘Born This Way’ will be released on May 23.
