Kylie Minogue feels her ARIA award validates her career.

The ‘All The Lovers’ hitmaker was inducted into the Australian Record Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame over the weekend, and said she is glad of the recognition after her career has suffered ups and downs.

She said: “There has been a period in my career, more than one I’d say, where things are low and things aren’t going the way you hoped they would go.

“I had a non-conventional start in this industry and it wasn’t to everyone’s liking. Being here and being acknowledged is really kind of something, it’s amazing.

“I understand that when I started, I hadn’t earned my stripes but I think I’ve got them now.”

The award comes a year short of the ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ hitmaker’s 25th anniversary, which she feels is fitting given the ARIAs were celebrating the same milestone in their career in 2011.

She added: “Coming home is a win. I always feel so happy to be home in Australia.

“I guess it being ARIA’s 25th anniversary and my 25th anniversary next year it seems very appropriate.

I was amazed that it was 25 years. I’m here to tell the tale and there is definitely more in the future for me.”
