Kasabian have paid tribute to Amy Winehouse by leaving flowers outside her home.

The ‘Days Are Forgotten’ group sent a sizeable floral tribute to be added to bouquets, pictures and other mementoes left by fans outside of the North London house where she was found to have died unexpectedly last Saturday (23.07.11).

Singer Tom Meighan told Musicweek.com: “I sent over some flowers today to her shrine from Kasabian – where all those people are putting all flowers – a big bunch of flowers from us. I think that’s respectful. She was lovely wasn’t she?”

Remembering how he had once partied with the ‘Rehab’ singer before the release of her breakthrough album ‘Back to Black’ in 2006, Tom added: “Before ‘Back to Black’ came out we had a sing song around hers. It was great, lovely memories, I was singing one of my songs and then she just sang and I was like ‘wow what a lovely voice!’ – just nice.”

Tom also added how the news of her death was broken to him by his bandmate Serge Pizzorno by telephone last Saturday, the day she passed away.

He added: “I saw her at the Q Awards about a year ago and she gave me a hug and a kiss and said are you alright? I am just so sorry. I had a tear, a little tear. I was in shock. My body went cold.”
