Kanye West was joined by John Legend and Jay-Z to close the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival this weekend.

The rapper gave one of his first full live performances since releasing his ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ album last year in an abandoned power plant in the city of Austin, Texas.

Taking to the stage at an at around 2.30am on Sunday morning (20.03.11), the hip hop star’s set leaned heavily on his newer material, opening with ‘Dark Fantasy’, prompting a huge sing-a-long from the audience, which reportedly included stars P.Diddy and Beyonce Knowles.

Kanye brought out a number of special guests during his show, including John Legend, for tracks ‘Christian Dior Denim Flow’ and ‘Blame Game’, Bon Iver singer Justin Vernon, who performed on ‘Lost in the World’ and a full marching band for ‘All of the Lights’.

The biggest surprise of the night came when Jay-Z appeared for nearly half an hour, performing tracks which he and Kanye both appeared on, including ‘H.A.M’ from their forthcoming ‘Watch The Throne’ album, ‘Monster’ and ‘Swagga Like Us’ – although Kanye admitted messing up the lyrics on that track, telling the crowd: “I forgot that one.”

During a performance of ‘Public Service Announcement’ Jay told the crowd: “Austin, Texas, if you’re having a good time with G.O.O.D. Music tonight, make some noise!”

Kanye was then joined by all of his guests for the climax of his set, a rendition of ‘Good Life’.
