Jay Z is the most nominated artist for the 2018 Grammys
It only took 21 years (and let’s be real, an awful lot of snubs along the way) but Jay Z has finally been nominated for album of the year at the Grammys. And that’s not all: 4:44 has made Beyonce’s husband the most nominated person in the 2018 list, ringing in 8 chances for a gramophone statue next February.
Other highlights? Canada’s own Alessia Cara is up for Best New Artist (even though it feels like she’s been around for a while, no?) and Song of the Year with Logic and Khalid for “1 800 273 8255”. It’s also no surprise that Luis Fonsi and Despacito are up for Record of the Year, but perhaps it is a surprise that Ed Sheeran was largely overlooked—while he did get a nom in the pop category, he was not featured in the album of the year race.
It’s also notable that Lorde is the only female performer nominated for album of the year. Melodrama shares the category with Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, Jay Z and Bruno Mars.
