Tinie Tempah, Kasabian, Bloc Party and New Order have been confirmed for Ibiza and Mallorca Rocks.
An eclectic line-up for the events – which see different acts perform weekly between June until September on the neighbouring Spanish islands of Ibiza and Mallorca – has been revealed, featuring rap, rock dance and pop acts including Example, Kaiser Chiefs, Chase & Status, Professor Green and Labrinth.
Recently reformed ‘Blue Monday’ group New Order will play their first ever live shows in Ibiza on September 12.
The band previously recorded part of their album ‘Technique’ on the Balearic Island and guitarist Bernard Sumner is thrilled to return.
He said: ”The last time New Order were in Ibiza was the second summer of love. We were there to record an album and didn’t really know what we were walking into. By the time we left a few months later Manchester had become ‘Madchester’, and dance music had made a quantum leap.
”New Order and Ibiza are forever entwined. There’s no going back, so instead we look forward to playing our first ever concert on the island at Ibiza Rocks.”
Kaiser Chiefs – who played at one of the first ever bills of the Ibiza rocks festival in 2005 – are also looking forward to appearing again.
Keyboardist Nick ‘Peanut’ Baines said: ”We’ve done Ibiza Rocks a couple of times before, and it’s great because everyone’s on holiday. We did it back in 2005 and [singer] Ricky [Wilson] jumped into the crowd. When you’re in Ibiza, it seems like more of a relaxing time compared to other gigs.”
