Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody has been suffering writer’s block.

The singer and songwriter with the ‘Chasing Cars’ group has been working on the band’s sixth album in Los Angeles, but admitted he has struggled to come up with words for some of the songs he’s written.

He told British radio station XFM: “I’ve been having some trouble writing words, little bit of writer’s block, but the music is flowing.

“There are four or five songs that are sounding like singles. Whether they’re hits or not is up to the public but they are sounding like things I would hear on the radio.”

Gary added the anthemic indie group’s sound has progressed from their last album, 2008’s ‘A Hundred Million Suns’, and a number of the tracks will feature American folk singer Lissie and both a gospel choir and a string section on the record.

Referring to the band’s 2009 single, Gary added: “We’re picking up from where ‘Just Say Yes’ left off and there’s quite a lot of electronic elements on this record.

“Although there’s some big rock songs and some little quiet gems too. We’re spreading out a little and it’s sounding absolutely glorious.”

The as-yet-untitled album is being produced by Jacknife Lee, who has worked on the group on their previous three albums.
