Britney Spears is “completely flattered” to be nominated for two MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).

The ‘I Wanna Go’ singer has received two nods for Best Pop Video and Best Choreography for ‘Till the World Ends’, and although she is up against heavyweights including Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Adele, Britney – who has so far been nominated 28 times and won four awards – is delighted to be included.

When told of her nominations by MTV, she said: “Oh my goodness, I’m completely flattered. That is amazing! Thank you so much for telling me. That’s awesome!

“I grew up listening to MTV. It’s just such an iconic thing to be able to participate in. To even be presented with an award is just so flattering and I’m honoured. I’m excited.

“You never get used to being nominated!”

Katy Perry leads the nominations for this year’s VMAs scoring nods in nine categories.

The 26-year-old singer saw four of her tracks nominated for awards, with ‘Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)’ up for Best Pop Video, ‘Teenage Dream’ up for Best Cinematography and ‘Firework’ shortlisted in three categories, Best Female Video, Best Art Direction and the coveted Video of the Year.

Her collaboration with Kanye West, ‘E.T’, is also up for four awards, Best Collaboration, Best Direction, Best Editing and Best Special Effects.

The VMAs will take place at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on August 28.
