Outkast’s Big Boi promises his new album will be “nothing but the funk”.

The rapper has recently finished his second solo album, ‘Daddy Fat Sax: Soul Funk Crusader’, and claims it is his most groove filled effort to date, featuring guests including Janelle Monae, Jamie Foxx and Gucci Mane.

He told Buzzinemusic.com: “It’s absolutely nothing but the funk. It’s ‘Daddy Fat Saxxx: Triple X’ so you know it’s going to be nasty – get down dirty, gritty, nasty, grimy, sl***y funk. It’s gonna be that sl*t funk.

“Long live the funk and nothing but the funk. It’s all about the music, so I’ve just been in the studio trying to put my ideas down.”

Big Boi – who makes up Outkast with Andre 3000 – also explained how he used his many contributors to make a “musical gumbo,” a ‘gumbo’ being a stewed dish common in the southern US.

He added: “Making the whole album was organic. Basically, if I was recording, I’d use other artists as instruments, as ingredients to my stew – my funk gumbo.

“So if I’m working on a record, I might just hear something and be like, ‘Wow, so-and-so might sound good on here,’ and I’ll reach out for them and they come on in.”

‘Daddy Fat Sax: Soul Funk Crusader’ will be released later this year.
