Slash has recorded a track with Mary J. Blige.

The ‘Paradise City’ rocker went back into the studio this week to start work on his second solo album, and has recorded a session with Mike Clink – who was producer of his former band Guns N’ Roses’ ‘Appetite for Destruction’ album – and the soul diva.

He tweeted: “Just finished a session w/Mike Clink engineering on a track w/Mary j Blige. Sounds killer! Iii|;) (sic).”

However, it is not clear if the track is for Slash’s album or another project, as he has previously hinted he intends to use his live vocalist Myles Kennedy to sing all the tracks on the solo record.

He said: “Myles and I have been writing all throughout the tour so we’ve got a lot of material, we’re starting pre-production in June and then do the tour in July.

“In September we’re going to do more pre-production and the album is slated to come out in March or April.”

Upon starting sessions earlier this week Slash tweeted: “Started 2nd round of pre prod today. It’s going to be a rockin’ fn’ record! Iii|; )(sic).”

Slash’ self titled 2010 debut featured singers including Ozzy Osbourne, Fergie, Iggy Pop and Adam Levigne.
