Robbie Williams claims Chrissie Hynde hates him because he refused to take her offer of working on a song together seriously.

The 37-year-old singer opened up about a meeting with The Pretenders singer over 16 years ago where she asked him to finish a song she had been working on but was put out when he made a joke about it.

Writing on his blog at Robbiewilliams.com, Robbie said: “Chrissie Hynde doesn’t like me. I met her once at a New Year’s Eve party when I was 21. It was very late in the morning and she said ‘Do you want to come back to mine and finish a song I’ve been writing?’

“Then she said ‘With no intercourse’. I said I’d come back but I didn’t think much of the song title.”

Luckily Robbie has a better relationship with his Take That bandmates and he revealed that during their current European tour, he watches them perform from the side of the stage when they do a slot without him.

Robbie – who left the band acrimoniously before in 1995 before rejoining in 2010 – explained: “I watch them every night…stage left.

“What do they do when I’m on? Well I know Jay (Jason Orange) stretches but I’ve never been there to watch.”
