Lil Wayne returned to the stage last night (07.11.10) following his release from jail.

The ‘Lollipop’ rapper – who completed his eight-month sentence at New York’s Riker’s Island jail for attempted weapon possession last week – performed at Las Vegas’ Hard Rock Hotel for the finale of Drake’s ‘Light Dreams and Nightmares’ tour, singing their duet ‘Miss Me’.

As he took to the stage, the audience went wild and Wayne told them: “I’m fresh from my vacation. I swear to God ain’t nothing, nothing, nothing like home.”

During the set, Drake spoke about getting a phone call from Wayne the previous day, saying: “It was from a number I never seen in my life. All I heard was, ‘Yo, I got a new number. It’s Weezy.’ I said, ‘Man, it’s great to hear your voice on a regular line.’ ”

Wayne – real name Dwayne Carter – was sentenced to a year in prison in March after a gun was found on his tour bus in 2007. The sentence was reduced for good behaviour.

Mack Maine, president of Wayne’s Young Money record label, has revealed he is planning a party, titled ‘Welcome Home, Weezy’ – after another of his aliases – in a strip club to mark the occasion.

Mack said the rapper’s friends will “treat him like a king, like the royalty that he is and make him feel like we really missed him and welcome him back to the family, basically”.
