Florence + the Machine thrilled a crowd including Kate Moss at London’s Alexandra Palace this week.
Singer Florence Welch and her backing band – boosted by a choir and string section – performed three sold-out dates at the prestigious venue between Thursday (08.03.12) and Saturday (10.03.12), with the British beauty and fellow model Daisy Lowe among the 10,000-strong crowd for the opening night.
Also in attendance on the first night was Florence’s mother, and the singer took the opportunity to say hello to her while making reference to the fact she is performing at much bigger venues than in the past.
Florence – clad in a stunning cape designed by Alex Noble – said: ”They’re all right, Mum, you see?”
The set opened with ‘Only If For a Night’ and was greeted by a rapturous reception, with the crowd remaining in good spirits throughout the night and hits ‘Shake It Out’, ‘Dog Days Are Over’ and ‘Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up’ proving to be particular highlights.
The set closed with recent single ‘No Light, No Light’ before Florence returned to the stage for a two-song encore of ‘You Got The Love’ and ‘Never Let Me Go’.
Support for the shows came from The Horrors.
