Arctic Monkeys won’t be playing any European festivals this summer.
The British rockers will be appearing at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California in April but don’t think they’ll be playing any other huge gigs this year.
When asked whether they were doing any festival shows this summer aside from Coachella, frontman Alex Turner told BBC Radio 1: ”We’re not doing any, I don’t think.”
The band also confirmed that they will release a new single in coming weeks, but denied they will be putting out a new EP.
Alex said: ”I don’t think it’ll quite be an EP. We’re about to go and tour with The Black Keys and we’re going to put out a new tune before we go and do that.”
Alex recently revealed he had ”forgotten” how to write a chart hit after the group’s latest singles failed to live up to the ones they released in 2005 and 2006.
When asked about chart success, he said: ”I have f***ing forgotten how to do that. I don’t know what that is any more, it’s a different landscape these days.”
The 25-year-old star also insisted singing never came ”naturally” to him and he is still ”working on it”.
He added: ”I was never a singer. I have had to practice at that and writing melodies is something that didn’t come naturally. I was more comfortable writing lyrics.
”I am still working on it but I think we are getting there with the singing thing.”
