MTV Movie Awards 2015: The 5 jokes that just made Amy Schumer our new girl crush
by Madison Schill As the curtains opened on her introductory sketch, all moans about the “newbie” in town were silenced—this lady is good. Effortless, self-aware, and sure enough of her comedic instincts to take a joke just where it needs to go, Amy Schumer is all kinds of awesome.
Her opening act had us cautiously sipping our kombucha in between belly laughs (no drink spraying here!), and frankly, we’d have it no other way. We kind of already miss her sassy-best-friend persona, and luckily, we won’t have to wait much longer for more. Amy’s hotly anticipated movie with SNL’s Bill Hader debuts this summer, and the only thing
Trainwreck about it is it’s title. Until then, here’s five of Amy’s most amazing (and insanely bold) zingers: #1. “Half of you don’t know who I am, and half of you think I’m Meghan Trainor.” #2. On the Divergent movie: “I lost my ‘Diverginity’ when I was 17.” #3. On Magic Mike XXL: “It really is magic. Anytime I watch those guys, at least two of my fingers disappear. It’s so weird.” #4. “I don’t want the winners to worry about their speeches going too long, because MTV is the one network that refuses to play music.” #5. The entire sketch of her auditioning for various nominated films. The whole thing, costume changes and all. So. Darn. Funny. Note to self: never cover body in Benjamin Moore roof paint. It’s not going to end well.
