A night at the symphony, must-have fashion, a cute collab and more.
Luxury Italian brand Bottega Veneta has opened its first Canadian flagship boutique, at Toronto’s Yorkdale Shopping Centre, just in time for the holidays. Think 437 square metres of glorious leather goods (handbags! luggage! shoes!) for both you and your loved ones. Or just you.
Tired of always being the one who keeps everything humming along at home? (We feel you, Cinderella.) In Fed Up: Emotional Labor, Women, and the Way Forward, journo Gemma Hartley explores ways to address this imbalance and make emotional labour a job for everyone. Leave it on your partner’s nightstand—you’ll thank us later.
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: The world needs more hats. Helping the cause (aside from Pharrell and the Queen)? Heirloom by milliner Samantha-Tara Mainville, who handcrafts pieces— from embroidered berets to straw baseball caps—in her Montreal studio. (From $160, heirloomhats.com)

You may never leave the hotel.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year…for your social life. But holiday parties and holiday boozing and holiday snacking (we love/hate you, Nanaimo bars) can leave skin puffy and dehydrated. ($700, at Holt Renfrew, holtrenfrew.com)
Academy Award-winner Alfonso Cuarón (Gravity) is making the move to Netflix. The director's latest, Roma, is a semi-autobiographical story that follows Cleo (Yalitza Aparicio), a live-in domestic worker for a middle-class family in 1970s Mexico City. The black-and-white Spanish-language film—which hits the streaming service on Dec. 14—is said to be Cuarón's most personal project to date. See you at the Oscars.
No one else sounds like Jessie Reyez, so we couldn’t possibly pass up the chance to catch the homegrown talent when she caps off her North American tour with dates in Montreal, London and Toronto. The only thing that could make the night better? An appearance by Reyez’s friend and fellow Torontonian Daniel Caesar. Daniel, if you’re reading this…
