Colton Underwood is the next Bachelor

ABC announced that the former NFL player would be the show’s newest leading man earlier today on Good Morning America. Fans of the franchise will recognize him from Becca Kufrin’s season of The Bachelorette as the contestant who revealed that he’s a virgin and that, prior to joining the series, casually dated Tia Booth, a former Bachelor contestant and Kufrin’s friend. Underwood and Booth reunited on this season of Bachelor in Paradise but (spoilers!) broke up on last night’s episode.

Underwood told GMA that they’ve both moved on and that he’s ready to get engaged. “I’m very excited,” he said. “Third time’s the charm, that’s what they say, right? That’s what I’m hoping for!”

Season 23 (!) of The Bachelor is expected to premiere in 2019.
