“Scrooged! Young Bill Murray plays the most obnoxious, arrogant television executive trying to produce a live Christmas special while being visited by the ghosts of the past, present and future. Alfie Woodard is his long suffering personal assistant. It is the perfect mix of smaltz, bitchiness and holiday cheer.”

“My absolute favourite movie to watch over the holiday break is Gone with the Wind. I realize it is technically not a Christmas movie, but frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn!”

“Call me Scrooge, but I am not a fan of schmaltzy Christmas movies. I do, however, have a major soft spot for Home Alone and Home Alone: Lost in New York. Growing up, Kevin McAllister and his outsmarting-bandits, eating-Kraft-Dinner-at-candlelight and kicking-back-at the Plaza-self was my hero.”

“My brothers and I can quote verbatim all of the Ernest films, and nothing gets me in the holiday spirit more than the South Florida adventures of Ernest P. Worrell and his quest to find the very reluctant, magically appointed candidate to the newly vacant role of Santa Claus in Ernest Saves Christmas. It’s got action, pathos and reindeer stuck in customs….knowwhatImeanVern?”

“Elf is probably my all-time favourite Christmas movie, but I recently saw The Holiday for the first time (no idea what took me so long) and it was fab. We need more new movies with Cameron Diaz and Jack Black in them, please.”
