To celebrate this fierce holiday, and in partnership with MADE, the winners of the first three seasons of Canada’s Drag Race got together with the contestants from Canada’s Drag Race: Canada VS the World (which premiers on Crave at the end of November) to dress up as an actor who inspires them.
“When our greatest drag stars embody iconic television and movie characters, amazing results are guaranteed: the queens of Canada’s Drag Race are now taking another step towards legendary status,” said Mathieu Chantelois, Senior Vice-President, Marketing and Public Affairs at the Canada Media Fund and head of the MADE campaign.
For more than five years, MADE—a non-profit campaign—has been showcasing the creators and works of homegrown TV, video games and cinema, and today they are celebrating our Drag Queens in true Halloween style.

For me, Anne Dorval is one of the most remarkable and versatile artists I know in Canada! From Chambre en Ville, to the films of the magnificent director Xavier Dolan, she has given the most striking and touching performances! I pay tribute to her today because she is incomparable, inspiring and absolutely not afraid of self-mockery, just like me!

I chose Pamela Anderson in her iconic role as CJ Parker of Baywatch because in my generation, Pamela Anderson was THE blonde bombshell. Growing up, Pamela was plastered all over my walls, all over my TV screen and all over the magazines. As a kid, she was the definition of beauty to me and would end up being a part of the reason I decided to do drag. She is one of Canada’s icons and I’m proud to represent her even in this little way.

After meeting Amanda Brugel as a judge on Canada’s Drag Race season two, and being such a huge fan of The Handmaid’s Tale, it only felt natural to step into her shoes (or in this case – slippers).

Growing up in Whitby, Ontario, all I ever wanted to be was a TV host so I watched so much television and observed all the many tv hosts that there were. The reason why Ed the Sock stuck out to me was because there was an unapologetic approach to his way of interviewing and being. This inspired me to be whoever I want to be and continue to push the envelope.

Pascale Bussières brilliantly brought to life a great lady of our Francophone culture, Alys Robi. In fact, Bussières’ remarkable performance in Ma Vie en Cinémascope earned her the Genie Award for Best Actress. Robi’s magnificent career began at the National Theatre in 1936, in the Montreal neighborhood that is now called the Village—and one that welcomes sexual and gender diversity.
Stephanie Prince
Sandra Oh is one of the most influential and talented Canadian actors having broken through to the mainstream market from her days on Grey’s Anatomy to Killing Eve and even her scene stealing take in The Princess Diaries.
Do you want the chance to see these six Queens on stage? Presented by MADE, they will be together for one evening only on November 20 for The Queens’ Night at the Cabaret du Casino de Montréal. For tickets, head to ticketmaster.ca.
