This Wednesday, you can celebrate the local film industry from the comfort of your home with a special interactive broadcast. The Reel Canada livestream, in honour of National Canadian Film Day, will air on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, featuring guests, such as Killing Eve star and national treasure, Sandra Oh, plus Jay Baruchel and Ethan Hawke (who is not Canadian, but has starred in films made in and about Canada).

The livestream will run until 10 p.m. and feature a mix of short films courtesy of the National Film Board of Canada, Can-con trivia, a sing-along and appearances by prominent Canadian film-industry professionals Atom Egoyan, Colm Feore, Mina Shum and more.

There are also several watch parties lined up for the day on various streaming services, like CBC Gem, Kanopy and Crave. They will feature Q&A’s with writers, directors and actors on Zoom – full schedule for that is here.

Additionally, those with children can tune in to a stacked family-friendly programming schedule.

Want to embrace Canadian Film Day but don’t know where to start? Reel Canada curated lists of Canadian films you can either stream online or watch on TV.

You can watch the broadcast on April 22 from 6 p.m. EST until 10 p.m. EST. Find the full program schedule here.
