While filming Four in the Morning, Toronto native Lola Tash saw a very different side of her home city. “I’ve never done so many night shoots in my life,” she says of shooting the unconventional comedy coming to CBC this fall. “We mostly shot between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. We saw some interesting characters, especially on the weekends.” (One favourite moment: coming upon a 3 a.m. beach party when they were shooting in The Beaches.)

Tash actually likens Toronto to the fifth main character in this show, which is all about four friends and the adventures they get up to at, well, four in the morning. “This show is so proudly Canadian and so proudly Toronto,” she says. “We even incorporate streetcars!” Tash plays Mitzi, the “level-headed, assertive one of the group,” which is pretty similar to how she is in real life at 4 a.m. Except for one time: “When I met the person I fell in love with, it was around 3 a.m. That was my first-ever experience going out at night and finding someone
I really enjoyed spending time with.”
