A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder

I love a quaint British murder-mystery series, and A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder definitely fits that bill. Adapted from the Holly Jackson novel of the same name, Wednesday star Emma Myers leads the way as Pip, a 17-year-old who is determined to uncover the real truth behind the apparent murder-suicide of a high school student and her boyfriend in her small English town five years earlier. Love Is Blind: UK

One of Netflix’s most popular reality TV formats is travelling overseas in Love Is Blind: UK. The premise remains the same: singles convene together looking for love and aiming to get engaged—before they ever meet IRL. The British version of the series will be hosted by broadcaster Emma Willis and her husband, Busted musician Matt Willis. August 7

The Umbrella Academy (Season 4)

The saga of The Umbrella Academy is coming to an end. In season four of the Toronto-filmed comic book adaptation, the unconventional Hargreeves siblings (including Canadian Elliot Page) have been stripped of their superpowers and have gone their separate ways. But when they each get pulled into the crosshairs of a clandestine conspiracy organization called The Keepers, the siblings must find out, once and for all, if they have what it takes to save the world. August 8

Emily in Paris (Season 4, Part 1)

Coucou, Emily! That’s right, Emily in Paris is back for season four, and things are looking très dramatique. To recap the end of season three: Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) and Emily (Lily Collins) have broken up because he realized she and Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) have feelings for each other, but Gabriel and Camille (Camille Razat) are expecting a baby and Camille is in love with another woman. Oh, and all this went down at Gabriel and Camille’s now-cancelled wedding. This all means that Emily is single and on the rebound—while continuing to build her career in marketing—but, naturally, she can’t stay away from either Alfie or Gabriel for long. Head’s up: season four of Emily in Paris has been split into two parts, with five episodes debuting this month, and five more dropping in September. August 15

Love Next Door

In Korean romcom series Love Next Door, Bae Seok-ryu (Jung So-min) returns to her home country in an attempt to find a fresh start and reboot her entire life. The only problem? She quickly runs into her childhood friend, Choi Seung-hyo (Jung Hae-in), who knows way too many of her secrets and way too much about the past she’s hoping to leave behind. August 17

Hit Man

If you’re anything like me, you’ve greatly been enjoying Glen Powell summer (not to be confused with brat girl summer, obviously), which means you’ll be delighted to learn that one of the movies responsible for the Top Gun: Maverick actor’s ascendance into full-blown movie stardom is finally hitting streaming in Canada. That film is Hit Man, which was co-written by Powell alongside director Richard Linklater and follows Gary (Powell), a professor who pretends to be an assassin so that the cops can arrest them. But when Gary becomes entangled with one of his would-be murder-for-hire clients (Adria Arjona), things start to get…complicated. August 22

KAOS

If you also went through a mythology phase at some point during elementary and/or middle school, then you’re going to want to check out KAOS. The dark-comedy series (which is from the creator of Netflix’s The End of the F***ing World) is set in a world where the Greek gods are real and very much walking amongst us. When Zeus (Jeff Goldblum) finds a wrinkle on his forehead, he becomes convinced that the apocalypse is near and becomes even more paranoid and vengeful. As all this is unfolding, a trio of humans discover that they’re somehow connected to the gods and an ancient prophecy. August 29

The Deliverance

For his latest movie, Oscar-nominated filmmaker Lee Daniels (Precious, The Butler) is getting spooky. The Deliverance follows Ebony Jackson, a single mother who moves her family into a new home to start anew. But there, they are tormented by a mysterious malevolent being and threatened with demonic possession, and must fight to escape the supernatural darkness. Andra Day, Glenn Close, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor and Mo’Nique star. August 30
